Our Stories

Once again André's work allowed us another trip, this time to Benidorm and instead of taking a plane there, we decided to go by car and take the opportunity to combine work and fun and extend the trip to Valencia and Seville.

On the first day we made the trip between Lisbon and Ciudad Real where we stopped just for dinner and sleep before continuing on to Benidorm. It was freezing cold and we had dinner quickly in one of the few bars / restaurants that were open and we returned to the hotel to rest.

The next day André had to be at a conference in Benidorm and so we had to leave early. The two days spent in Benidorm were working days for André and to enjoy the hotel for Camila.

We only managed to escape to the city center on the 28th at night to see what is one of the best known seaside resorts in southern Spain and perhaps also one of the ugliest. The city have dozens of skyscrapers up to the beach line with lots of bars and restaurants on the waterfront by the sea. It is a "Sun & Beach" destination by nature and for those who enjoy nightlife, it also promises to have options for all tastes. The problem: It was February and it was cold. Many of these places were closed or partially closed waiting for the good weather to charge again the triple or quadruple of regular prices to tourists from Northern Europe who certainly arrive here every year (and also to the Portuguese as it is a destination that many Portuguese continue to visit every year).

March 2nd was the day to head to Valencia. We didn't see much of the city because André had a meeting and it was also the time for the "Fallas" that we had the opportunity to see for a day. Officially the Fallas are held between 15 and 19 March, and the days and nights in Valencia are a continuous party, but since March 1st, "mascletàs" are held: a show of petards and artificial fires, in which musical compositions are obtained through the noise of gunpowder. These shows take place in the city center and that is what we had the opportunity to see.

It is a really noisy party but everyone in the city is very excited and the square where the "mascletàs" are held was filled with people to celebrate.

At the end of the afternoon, we took the opportunity to get to know a little of the central area next to the hotel where we stayed and had a tapas dinner there.

March 3rd was the day to leave Valencia for Seville.

We arrived at the end of the day and as it was André's birthday we took the opportunity to choose a restaurant that seemed good in the city center. We didn't look for opinions or try to know anything, we just walked until a restaurant with "good looks" and entered

We ended up finding one that belonged to a 4 * hotel, very modern and where we ate quite well. Unfortunately we don't remember the name of the restaurant.

We ended up seeing little of the city because we were short on time, but on the 4th we still had a quick visit before returning to Lisbon.

It was a bit of a "rush" trip where we didn't get to see much of the cities but we got the desire to return one day with more time! :)
